A quick update for you all about my state of affairs. I’ve just entered my final term of University this week and have unfortunately discovered that this final stretch of schooling is going to be unfathomably busy for me. In short, I’m not going to be posting much over the course of the next 3 months.
I’ll still be around of course but don’t expect the level of activity I’ve been managing of late. Articles will be published by me during this 3 month period of low activity, just far more sparse than I would otherwise enjoy. With that being said, let me tell you what I do have planned for this month at least.
Later this week I’ll be putting up my ABC review of Flowers of Evil which will certainly be interesting. I have really loved doing these ABC reviews and I hope you have been enjoying them as well. Additionally, I’ll be seeing Your Name on Friday and will do a write up of some kind after I see it.
For the remainder of the month I will likely not tackle much else but expect to see Jacob (the guy who does most of the film reviews on here) post from time to time. I may put up another voting round for the G round of ABC’s that would be open for an extended period of time.
Wish me luck on my journey to complete my degree.
As promised, I wanted to update everybody on what will be going on the next few months here at Jon Spencer Reviews. Some of you may recall that I’m a marketing major attending University and this is the year that I’ll be finishing up and graduating (finally). Unfortunately, this is by far my busiest term and my most critical term thus far.
While I only have 3 classes this term, they are all pretty major. I’m having to retake a nightmare of a class that varies wildly in content and work load each time. The University hasn’t kept the same instructor for this course over the past 2 years and a lot of people fail it since it usually gets handed off to a brand new instructor who may or may not be qualified in the subject. As a result, the class is a lot harder than it should be. That being said, I should do alright this go around so long as I don’t slack off.
My second class is something like a senior project. I’m working with 3 other students to do a research project which we will publish by the end of the term. For now, this class is actually pretty easy and not a lot of work but in about 7 weeks, the work load for this course will explode and I basically won’t be doing anything else for weeks 7-10 this term. If I drop of the grid (which is likely at this point), that’s probably when that will happen and how long it’ll last. Upon conclusion, I can put up the paper we write on the site if people want to read it.
Lastly, I have a fairly straight forward class that is hardly worth mentioning in terms of having any impact on the site. It’s my one “easy” class despite how much work it is. I get to give a cool speech about something I’m passionate about though so I’m taking suggestions.
My classes follow a M/W schedule from 8am-2pm with an occasional Friday class for an hour at noon. This means that I’ll probably prep posts T/R about once a week depending on how much work there is to do. I have an ABC related post in the works that will likely drop next week. The next round of voting will also start soon for that as well, this time will be for the letter E. Jacob will still be around posting off and on as per the usual too.
Don’t forget, I also have a job and other stuff I have to do. Since this site is just for fun and I don’t do anything to raise money here in any way, the site does take a hit when my work load gets heavier. I’m hoping that there will be minimal impact though outside of those 3 weeks later in the term. If anybody has any questions about what’s going down just let me know in the comments.
Just a quick update that will go over the status with Anime ABC’s C pick Code Geass, what I’ve been up to lately, some plans for the next few weeks, and I’ll be sharing a fun holiday playlist for those who are interested. With that being said let’s hit on where I’m at with ABC’s.
As you may know, Code Geass won the C round for Anime ABC’s and I’m pretty excited to be reviewing that here but the series is a bit long since I’ll be tackling both seasons. I’ve made it through my rewatch of season 1 but haven’t had the chance to get through season 2 quite yet because of school. I’m watching this one with some folks who have never seen it before to gain some added insight for the review from them. We’ll likely get to finishing season 2 this weekend or next, so expect the review in a few weeks.
With that being said, school has been keeping me plenty busy. I just finished everything but finals up so my schedule will be opening up by this time next week. However, not everything for school has been work, some has been play. I’m a member of my University’s Ballroom Dance Club and I had the pleasure of helping out with the last playlist for the term which is holiday themed. You can check out the final playlist here: Ballroom Playlist The list features songs for Christmas, Hanukkah, and even Kwanzaa! To get that final product we had to do over 5 hours of research, check out the rejected songs here: Rejects (Too Good to be Bad).
Lastly, I plan on getting my big Righstuf Holiday Buying Guide out for this year early next week. Most likely Monday. You can check out last year’s by clicking the link above. The list will feature some of the best deals I think people should take advantage of from this year’s big sale. I’m hoping to get some other articles out but I’m not sure what I’d like to cover yet between the new Hearthstone expansion, some anime stuff, or even board games so if you have a suggestion for me let me know in the comments below.
Until next time,
