Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom – A Near Perfect Adaptation

The Best Bee Train Show I’ve Seen

Maybe you haven’t heard of Bee Train as a studio, but they have less than a stellar reputation. You probably have heard of Gen Urobuchi, known for such series as Psycho-Pass and Madoka Magica. So what happens when these two get together to adapt one of Urobuchi’s early visual novels? Well, you get Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, a dramatic tale of two assassins filled to the brim with twists and turns. Anime ABC’s – I Voting Round

It’s That Time Again!

After a record breaking amount of votes for the previous round, I’m excited to see how many votes we can muster this time for the I round. Please remember to encourage people to vote by sharing this article or the link to the survey; it’s a real help!

Anime ABC I Voting Round [Link] <- Click Me!

Voting will be open from today until 8/29/17 at 11:59PM PST.

Again, thanks so much for your contributions on this series. I couldn’t do this one without all of you! I hope we can continue to grow the series and our community with each new round as well. As always, thanks for voting!

Not Sure What Anime ABC’s Is?

Anime ABC’s is a fun community focused event that I run here at Jon Spencer Reviews. Any and all people can participate in this event, even if you know nothing about anime! So how exactly does this all work? It’s simple! Just follow the link above and vote for as many of the listed shows (or provide your own) that seem interesting to you. Each round moves to the next letter in the alphabet, so the current “I” round is the ninth anime ABC’s. This is done to keep things interesting and to allow for more variety with each passing round.

The goal of this series is to encourage community input, interaction, as well as to allow me to discover cool new shows, or in some cases, rediscover ones that I previously watched. You can check out my previous ABC reviews for:  Anohana, Bacanno!, Code Geass, The Devil is a Part-Timer, Erased, Flowers of Evil, Gunslinger Girl (S1-2 + OVA’s)or Hai to Gensou no Grimgar by clicking either of their respective titles for examples of what the end result looks like.

So what are you waiting for? Vote now and be sure to come back next week to see which show ended up winning this round.

Anime ABC’s – H Voting Round

This article series has been a real blast! Let’s keep up the fun with our eighth voting round to determine what anime I’ll be viewing and reviewing next. Please remember to encourage people to vote by sharing this article or the link to the survey; it’s a real help!

AKA Lolis with Guns

Gunslinger Girl was introduced to me as “lolis with guns.” I was immediately interested by this description and knew that I would be watching this anime. Up until now, the opportunity hadn’t arisen. I had started it up with some friends awhile back, but we never got around to finishing it. Fortunately, Anime ABC’s is just the opportunity that I was looking for to finish this show. I’ll be taking a look at both seasons of the show and the OVA’s in this review, so let’s get started! Continue reading “Anime ABC’s – G is for Gunslinger Girl (S1 & 2 + OVA’s)”

Anime ABC’s G Results

Drum Roll Please… A Tie!

The two contenders coming in with 5 votes a piece are Gunslinger Girl and Grimgar. Having a total of 13 voters this go around, the results were pretty varied. However, these two managed to be the front runners for the entire voting period! Each one would attempt to overtake the other, but in the end it all comes down to me. The deciding vote, for all the marbles, and the winner is?

Gunslinger Girl!

For those wondering, this title wins out since Grimgar’s Japanese title starts with an “h” and will have a second shot in the next round. Plus, I was secretly hoping Gunslinger Girl would win :p

Any way, great job guys! We managed to bring the vote up to 13 from last time’s 9. I’d obviously love to have even more people vote, but I’m glad that 13 people took the time to vote this time. Let’s aim to do even better in future rounds! Thanks again for voting 🙂

I’ve got things in the works outside of this so expect to see some content from me very soon. You all would have seen something a bit sooner but WordPress and my internet haven’t exactly been playing along T.T One article should be coming fairly soon after this one and of course we’ll have whatever Jacob cooks up. Past that, I aim to have Gunslinger Girl watched and reviewed by the end of the month. In addition to this, I’m reading a book for another article that is in the works and hope that you’ll enjoy it once its ready!

While you wait consider checking out my previous ABC article on Flowers of Evil. A lot of effort went into that review and I tried something a bit different by focusing specifically on how its story is told through music. I’d love to hear what you all think, so stop by if you have the chance.

Of course, feel free to view the results of this voting round in full below.

Rightstuf Holiday Sale Buying Guide 2016 – Top 26-ish Picks

It’s That Time of Year Again!

Which means that I’m back with my annual Righstuf Holiday buying guide. This time of year is the ideal time to stock up on anime when the prices at Righstuf are unbelievably low. The best part is that whether you have a membership or not, the savings are the same for all so nobody has to miss out. Last year I detailed 35 picks, some are bound to make it back this year but first, here are some rules for this list:

  • Only anime DVD’s and Blu-rays will be featured on this list. I don’t really read manga and so I’m not all that well informed on what’s a good deal or even what titles people should really pick up.
  • No Mega Deals or Limited Offers will be featured since they have a time limit.
  • Has to be the best price I can find, if Amazon beats it then it doesn’t end up on the list.
  • Out of Stock items will not be on the main list but will probably get an honorable mention (they might come back into stock).
  • List is in no particular order.
  • Lastly, this list is only current as of 12/5/16. That means I’ve sifted through all 1,519 deals so far! More offers are added each day, so be sure to head over to Righstuf each day and see what new deals pop up.
