The birth of legends
It’s 1990, and the music world is in the midst of a metal domination, with such acts as Slayer, Metallica, Cannibal Corpse and Sepultura playing for sold out shows across the countries of the world and blasting through the speakers of a younger generation of kids and adults. But as with the turning of the decade new things surface, and the 90’s emerging trend is a new genre of music known as Grunge. Combining elements of both Pop and Rock, Grunge had all the elements to appeal to a younger generation of listeners. The birthplace of the genre is commonly considered to be in Seattle, Washington, with up and coming bands like, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney. Alice in Chains is another such band to pop up from Seattle with a grunge sound, but with a major difference, whilst most of the other Grunge bands had Rock or Punk influences, Alice in Chains had an unmistakably metal sound to it. Appearing on the scene with their debut full length album Facelift in 1991; opening our ears and minds to this strange new style for many years to come. AKA The boring Australian man
Hi guys, Jon was nice enough to extend an invitation for me to write some stuff here.
My name is Frank, I am from Australia and am 20 years old. I am most passionate about music, from when I get up until the moment I fall asleep I am listening to it. I only really listen to one genre though (metal). I’m hoping to write music reviews for you guys, just to give you an introduction into my small world of interests.
Here are some of my favourite albums:
Other hobbies I enjoy:
- Video games
- Model painting
I hope you guys enjoy some of my reviews!
My name is Meghan, I’m an art major and I have no idea what I’m doing with my life. But sometimes I make videos in my own creative way because that’s what I’m really passionate about. And sometimes those videos may end up here because Jon is nice enough to let me share them with you. My videos usually consist of me rambling about something I find interesting or humorous, but I also have a large cast of characters that show up in skits, and sometimes (though rarely) I actually go outside and film my adventures. So I hope you enjoy and any feedback is greatly appreciated!
Meeeeeeeeeeeee, is Dana Scarr, the newest member of Jon’s review crew! Similarly to Jon, I’ll primarily be reviewing anime, games, western animation, and whatever else tickles my fancy. I have a love of crafts of all kinds and I’d love to share whatever I’m up to with you all. I also love animals of all sorts, which may or may not come up in some of my reviews, and I am currently a student working towards a bachelors degree in Zoology. If anyone’s got any questions for me, leave it in a comment below or send it through Jon (for now), and if it’s not too invasive I’ll do my best to answer. In the meantime, I’ll hopefully be able to share some differing, interesting, and maybe thought provoking opinions on my favorite (or least favorite if the case arises) media and more!
Dana Scarr signing off!
