Nothing extra on the survey this time either 🙂

Not Sure What Anime ABC’s Is?

Anime ABC’s is a fun community event that I run here at Jon Spencer Reviews. Any and all are welcome to participate in determining what anime I’ll be reviewing next for this series. Each voting round cycles to the next letter in the alphabet, that means we are currently on our sixth voting round. This is done to keep things interesting and to allow for more variety in options each time.

The goal of this series is to encourage community input, interaction, as well as to allow me to discover cool new shows, or in some cases, rediscover ones that I previously watched. You can check out my previous ABC reviews for Anohana, Bacanno!, Code Geass, The Devil is a Part-Timer, or Erased by clicking either of their respective titles for examples of what the end result looks like.

So what are you waiting for? Go out and vote for the anime I’ll be reviewing next!

The survey is a touch longer than normal with an additional follow-up survey that is completely optional. This is just to help gauge some interest levels and to make sure I don’t need to make any changes to the existing ABC format.

Voting will be open from today until 2/5/17 at 11:59PM.

Remember to encourage others to vote for your choice. We had a smaller turn out than last time, but that was kind of expected since the voting took place around a holiday. Let’s try and get at least 50 people to vote this time!

Thanks for voting!

CG in Anime – A Brief History & Discussion

Love it or Hate it, We’re Stuck With 3D & CG Work in Anime

Since I took a look at Ajin‘s first season earlier this week I thought it might be interesting to explore my thoughts on the use of computer generated content and various 3D elements that are becoming ever present in the anime industry. Before all that though, let’s explore the history of CG in anime.

Anime ABC’s D Results & Brief Update

Happy New Year!

Hope everybody is enjoying the first day of 2017. I know I’ve been busy lately but before I get to that, let’s see who the winner of the D round for Anime ABC’s. Receiving a grand total of 7 votes:  The Devil is a Part-Timer is this round’s winner! I’m looking forward to giving this one another watch and reviewing it. It should take me a no more than three weeks to get this watched and reviewed, I’d be quicker but won’t have internet for another week or so. While you wait, consider checking out the previous ABC review of Code Geass or any of the other’s in the backlog.

This time around we had a total of 9 participants which is down from last round. No worries though, I had expected this. Just means we need to try harder to get people to vote next time. Below there are copies of the results for those who are curious on how people voted and a short update following that.

Brief Update

As some may be aware, I haven’t had the best internet during the month of December. I’ll be back in my usual environment in a week or two and will be able to produce content again with more regularity. At this time I’ll be back on my University campus and will be settling into my next round of classes. In the meantime, Jacob may produce some content for you all but I will be inactive here prior to me being back on campus.

Until then!

Anime ABC’s – D Voting Round

Time Again to Vote!

Anime ABC’s D Voting Round. Vote Here! <—Click Me!

I’ve improved the voting method so each title is also accompanied by a picture that shows what the anime looks like. This was done mostly for folks who aren’t familiar with a particular title and because a wall of text isn’t that interesting.

Voting will be open from today until 12/30/16 at 11:59PM. Voting is open longer than normal this round due to Christmas.

Remember to encourage others to vote for your choice. We had 13 people vote in total last time which is up from the B round before it. We still have yet to smash the 40 vote record set by the A round. Let’s shoot for a new record with the D round.

Thanks for voting!

Anime ABC’s – C is for Code Geass

51c0d593e0113add8dea587e1bd4284f1473913481_fullAll Hail Lelouch!

This review has been a long time coming, but I finally finished watching both seasons with my friends. This review will cover both seasons and is spoiler free. Code Geass is a 50 episode Sunrise anime split between 2 seasons. For several years the anime has been out of print but recently came back thanks to Funimation for a 10th anniversary re-release. I first watched Code Geass several years ago when I first got into anime, and I loved every second of it. Did my thoughts change, or is it just as awesome as I remember? Something Amazing – Updates & Stuff

Hello Everybody!

Just a quick update that will go over the status with Anime ABC’s C pick Code Geass, what I’ve been up to lately, some plans for the next few weeks, and I’ll be sharing a fun holiday playlist for those who are interested. With that being said let’s hit on where I’m at with ABC’s.

As you may know, Code Geass won the C round for Anime ABC’s and I’m pretty excited to be reviewing that here but the series is a bit long since I’ll be tackling both seasons. I’ve made it through my rewatch of season 1 but haven’t had the chance to get through season 2 quite yet because of school. I’m watching this one with some folks who have never seen it before to gain some added insight for the review from them. We’ll likely get to finishing season 2 this weekend or next, so expect the review in a few weeks.

With that being said, school has been keeping me plenty busy. I just finished everything but finals up so my schedule will be opening up by this time next week. However, not everything for school has been work, some has been play. I’m a member of my University’s Ballroom Dance Club and I had the pleasure of helping out with the last playlist for the term which is holiday themed. You can check out the final playlist here:  Ballroom Playlist The list features songs for Christmas, Hanukkah, and even Kwanzaa! To get that final product we had to do over 5 hours of research, check out the rejected songs here:  Rejects (Too Good to be Bad).

Lastly, I plan on getting my big Righstuf Holiday Buying Guide out for this year early next week. Most likely Monday. You can check out last year’s by clicking the link above. The list will feature some of the best deals I think people should take advantage of from this year’s big sale. I’m hoping to get some other articles out but I’m not sure what I’d like to cover yet between the new Hearthstone expansion, some anime stuff, or even board games so if you have a suggestion for me let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,

-Jon Spencer

Anime ABC’s C Results

In A Surprise Twist, The Winner Is…

With a grand total of 8 votes Code Geass managed to beat out Cowboy Bebop by a whole 2 votes. This was certainly unexpected as Cowboy Bebop seemed like the sure bet when voting first started. That being said, there is no better time to be reviewing Code Geass since it just turned 10 years old this year and I happened to pick up the Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray. This one will take me a bit to watch and get a review out so be a little patient this time around. You can check out my previous ABC reviews of Anohana or Baccano! in the meantime.

Below you’ll see the breakdown for all 13 voters, up from last times 9, which I’m glad to see we managed to improve. Hopefully we can get even more votes as we continue through the alphabet!
