Project Raildex – Worth a Watch for Modern Fans?

Mostly, I Just Wanted to Watch it

When it comes to what I choose to cover here on this website it’s easy to see that there are a few patterns for what I’m partial for. Among these are big retrospective pieces on large franchises, making today’s topic of conversation in the IndexRailgun and Accelerator series long overdue. In fact, I’ve wanted to cover this franchise for several years but always found excuses in watching other programs. Since my Funimation subscription was about to end, this made for an ideal last hurrah for that platform as Crunchyroll didn’t have the full series dubbed (for some reason). With this all out of the way, let’s get on with the main event:  is this franchise worth watching? Continue reading “Project Raildex – Worth a Watch for Modern Fans?”

91 Days – Gangsters & Revenge

Sounds Good to Me

When 91 Days first aired in 2016, I was fairly confident that I would enjoy it. From the trailer it looked to be a serious drama set in prohibition era America. Seeing how I loved Baccano! I  was excited at the prospect of another great series utilizing this more unique setting. Additionally, this was an opportunity for Funimation to deliver a great dub as was done for Baccano! when that received one. Was this anime one that capitalized on all of its uniqueness or did it burry itself six feet under with a bog standard revenge story? Let’s find out! Continue reading “91 Days – Gangsters & Revenge”

This has been a pretty fun series so far and I hope you have all been enjoying it! I spent a lot of time scrolling through all the anime I’ve completed to arrive at who my favorite male supporting character would be and I think I finally figured it out! The 30 Day Anime Challenge Day 8 – My Favorite Anime Couple

30-day-anime-challengeHere’s a quick reminder of the schedule for the challenge and what’s been done so far. Today is day 8 so I’ll be talking about my favorite anime couple. Who could of guessed that it would be these lovable idiots? Probably everybody! Any way, that’s right, I’ll be talking about Isaac and Miria from Baccano! Taking a Look at my Desktop Backgrounds

Doing Something a bit Different

Today I felt like talking about my desktop backgrounds and my thought process behind how and why I choose the ones I have. This article is a good way to get to know me some more and an opportunity for folks to share some cool images with each other. This isn’t really meant to be in-depth or anything, just for fun. I know this is something fairly atypical of me but I hope you’ll indulge me a bit and enjoy 🙂  Continue reading “Taking a Look at my Desktop Backgrounds”

Not Sure What Anime ABC’s Is?

Anime ABC’s is a fun community focused event that I run here at Jon Spencer Reviews. Any and all people can participate in this event, even if you know nothing about anime! So how exactly does this all work? It’s simple! Just follow the link above and vote for as many of the listed shows (or provide your own) that seem interesting to you. Each round moves to the next letter in the alphabet, so the current “I” round is the ninth anime ABC’s. This is done to keep things interesting and to allow for more variety with each passing round.

The goal of this series is to encourage community input, interaction, as well as to allow me to discover cool new shows, or in some cases, rediscover ones that I previously watched. You can check out my previous ABC reviews for:  Anohana, Bacanno!, Code Geass, The Devil is a Part-Timer, Erased, Flowers of Evil, Gunslinger Girl (S1-2 + OVA’s)or Hai to Gensou no Grimgar by clicking either of their respective titles for examples of what the end result looks like.

So what are you waiting for? Vote now and be sure to come back next week to see which show ended up winning this round.

Top 25 Anime Openings

nfzmig8When the OP is Just Right…

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve personally put an actual article up on here. So I thought I’d get back into the swing of things by celebrating some of my favorite anime openings. I’ve seen a couple hundred anime, so this list took some careful consideration to whittle down to just 25.

The list is in no particular order and the only rule is that the opening has to have come from a show I’ve seen. Other than that, no repeats for stuff I’ve reviewed outside of honorable mentions. Obviously this is just my personal taste, so if an OP you love isn’t on the list I probably didn’t see the show or just didn’t like the opening that much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Continue reading “Top 25 Anime Openings”

Voting will be open from today until 6/30/17 at 11:59PM.

I know I’ve been gone for a bit due to Uni, but now that I have officially graduated with a degree in Marketing (Yay!) let this be the first marker of my return to the blogging realm! Please note that the survey isn’t going to look quite as great as it did in previous rounds. I had to downgrade to a free account since I can no longer use my school one. Other than no longer looking extra pretty, the survey is functionally the same as the others.

Remember to encourage others to vote for your choice. Let’s shoot for a new high score on number of votes this go around, I know we can do it!

Thanks again for voting!
