Happy Valentine’s Day!
If you are on Twitter or in my Discord, you have probably already seen that I made a bunch of anime-related Valentine’s Day cards. If not, then this post will discuss why I did this project and what inspired each card. Please enjoy! Continue reading “Creating 20 Original Anime Valentine’s Cards”
It’s Raining & I’m Sad
We’ve all watched a TV show, film, or anime where somebody dies and then, as if by magic, it begins to rain. It’s a tried and true cliché that can be utilized to brilliant effect, or come off as incredibly corny depending on the context. Join me as I explore three examples of rain scenes in anime. One superb, one interesting, and one just plain bad. The shows I’ll be using for my examples are: Akame ga Kill, Love, Election and Chocolate, and finally, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Ok, I Know This is Late…
Way back in December 2017, Derek posted on his site, Apprentice Mages Lounge, a post titled, “My Anime Music Playlist…” in which he shared his anime playlist at the time. He then went and requested others share their lists with him. I had intentions to do so, but I wanted to wait until I had a respectable list. Well, nearly a year later, I believe today is finally that day with my current 80+ song list which I updated weekly since the day Derek originally posted! Rewatching Stuff Can be Fun!
I’m sure this has happened to you once or twice before. You sit down to rewatch one of your favorite film, TV show, anime, etc… only to discover that it wasn’t quite as good as you remembered it to be. For reviewers, this is something that is often considered in reviews: will X thing hold up on a repeat viewing? While there is value in this question, why is there so much weight placed on this question? Continue reading “Should Rewatch Value Matter? – A Discussion”
You’ll Want to Check This Out!
For today I’ll be talking about something totally different than usual, I’m going to be recommending you a YouTube channel I stumbled across earlier this week. What do you get when you combine marble courses, sports commentary, and excellent production? You’d end up with the channel, “Jelle’s Marble Runs” which is filled with all sorts of cool marble videos, most notably, the annual MarbleLympics. Trust me, this is one satisfying experience with a bit more to it than you might expect. Continue reading “The Marble Olympics – Something Cool I Found & Had to Share”
Hold Up, Something’s Not Right!
You are probably thinking that I’m off my rocker here, “Jon how can a critique not be critical?” and that’s a totally fair question. When I say this I am not saying that a critique of something can’t criticize something, but instead mean that a critique does not always have to be negative. There’s a general misconception that these two things must always come hand-in-hand but do they really? I’d argue, this doesn’t always have to be the case. We’ve All Been There
You Know the feeling where you don’t know what to write about despite the seemingly infinite amount of things you could be writing about? That’s me right now. Today I’ll be talking about feeling creatively spent, even when you still have plenty of ideas. Sorry for the lack of reviews on my part lately too, I guess I just have a lot of discussion lately. With that, let’s get to it. Continue reading “[Insert Title Here] – A Discussion on Creative Bankruptcy”
Last Week I Saw a Tweet
In case you don’t know what tweet I’m talking about, take a second and look at it here. Arthifis explains that he is having a hard time keeping up with reading everyone’s posts. I can totally relate. Around the same time I was thinking of writing an article addressing why I haven’t been reading as much as I used to as well as responding to the (many) blog award nominations I receive. Seeing how this is an issue we probably all face, or will at some point, let’s have ourselves a discussion on the topic. Continue reading “Reading, Writing & Awards – Trying to Keep up (but Failing)”
Now That Strike is Gone…
As many of you already know, Amazon has gotten rid of their additional pay wall for anime and everything has reverted back to Prime members. That’s great news for me, Strike was something just riddled with problems. I’m not here to complain about that though, instead I’ll be talking about my thoughts on their streaming service and if it may be something you might want to use. Continue reading “Watching Anime on Amazon – Any Good?”
Doing Something a bit Different
Today I felt like talking about my desktop backgrounds and my thought process behind how and why I choose the ones I have. This article is a good way to get to know me some more and an opportunity for folks to share some cool images with each other. This isn’t really meant to be in-depth or anything, just for fun. I know this is something fairly atypical of me but I hope you’ll indulge me a bit and enjoy 🙂 Continue reading “Taking a Look at my Desktop Backgrounds”
