Introducing the Anime X-Change Project!

Surprise!

You may remember that I ran a little thing called Anime ABC’s for over four years until it ended not too long ago. A lot of folks were hoping I’d continue the series, and while I still am working on a few things there, I would like to introduce the project that will be replacing that series for the time being. I hope you are excited, so read on for all the details!

What is Anime X-Change?

This was a community project that I put on for the month of December. Folks signed up, received a partner at random, and then swapped anime recommendation with each other. Afterwards they wrote a review or gave some feedback on the anime using #animexchange on Twitter. Basically, it was a lot like MAL’s Secret Santa event but it was open to everyone and encouraged more community engagement.

I also am participating in this event, and while you’ll see my x-change review pretty soon, I’m doing something extra special that I didn’t tell anyone about. Have you figured it out? Instead of just reviewing the show recommended to me I’ll be watching AND reviewing every single title that was suggested to all participants!* Pretty exciting no?

*There are some exceptions to this, namely shows I have previously reviewed and one show in particular that I refuse to watch (that participant dropped out anyway, so no harm done in my book)

Project Details

Here’s how this project is going to work. Starting later this week I’ll have up my X-Change review but then from there on out I’ll be randomly selecting, watching, and then reviewing at least one show per month moving forward. There were a total of 28 participants but since I have reviewed a few of the shows recommended, you’ll only see 25 reviews in total. I don’t want to spoil the list but here are a few recommendations chosen at random to sample for you:

  • Death Parade
  • Beyond the Boundary
  • Steins;Gate
  • A Collection of Short Films
  • And a Whole LOT More!

If I can’t access a show I will have to drop it from that total, but that’s the projected number at the moment anyway. Once the review has gone up I’ll use the hashtag to share it and I’ll give credit to the person who made the recommendation as well so they can have a nice surprise too! That’s really it, pretty simple project that should give you plenty to look forward to.

Let me know what reviews you are looking forward to the most as you can get a sneak peak by looking at #animexchange on Twitter. Personally, I’m pretty excited for a number of these. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you again real soon for the official start of the project!
