Ah, a Man of Justice!
That is the most inside joke but I am using it anyway! Let’s take a quick look at the schedule before I get into today’s topic. This has been a pretty fun series so far and I hope you have all been enjoying it! I spent a lot of time scrolling through all the anime I’ve completed to arrive at who my favorite male supporting character would be and I think I finally figured it out!
Love it or hate it, Mirai Niki, or, Future Diary, can’t be faulted in its variety amongst its cast. While you have your typical troupes, most things have an interesting spin and the character designs are at the very least interesting. One such character is the topic of today’s post.
Enter “Twelve” or real name Yomotsu Hirasaka. Voiced by my man, Ian Sinclair, who you may recognize as the voice of Dandy in Space Dandy, Yomotsu Hirasaka is portrayed with all the bombastic goofiness you should expect from a Sinclair character. What makes this particular character interesting is that he is actually blind!
While this character is obviously meant to be a riff on the “Super Sentai” type character, being a (terrible) ally to Justice in costume and all, I thought it was cool that they would include a blind character in the show. Not only that, but he makes it a decent way into the death game. This isn’t exactly perfect representation of disabled people in anime, but I still think it is a pretty neat thing to note.
My main love comes from just how goofy the character is though. Much like Isaac and Miria from Baccano!, I really wish this character would have had more time on screen to fully shine. I guess I just love goofy characters because they can be a lot of fun when executed well!
I’d really love to leave a clip but I couldn’t really find any good ones, especially not dubbed. There is no love for him! That’s very sad…
Now it’s time to turn things over to you! What supporting male case member is your favorite? Let me know that and what you thought of my pick in the comments below. If you’d like to support the work I’m doing here on the site please take a moment to head over to my Ko-fi page. Join me again tomorrow where we tackle a very similar question, this time, my favorite female supporting cast member. As always, thanks for reading!
