The 30 Day Anime Challenge Day 5 – Anime That I’m Ashamed I Enjoyed?

It’s a Question Without an Answer

30-day-anime-challengeReal quick, here is the schedule so you can see what has been done and what is to come still. Today is day five and I’ll be tackling what many would consider the, “guilty pleasure” anime question. Well this is going to be really easy for me, I don’t have one. That being said, it would be boring to leave it at that, so let’s dive a little more deeply on this one.

Personally, if I enjoy something I don’t care if other people know that. In fact, I do the revolutionary thing and tell people about it. I know this concept may seem strange and foreign coming from a guy who runs a site like this on the internet but believe me, I like sharing my opinion. Another shocker for you is that I enjoy things that aren’t quote-unquote good. I can hear you all collectively gasping now.

For these reasons, I think this day of the anime challenge is really dumb. Largely, I watch stuff that isn’t all that crazy or lewd so I’d show just about anything to anybody from the anime I’ve seen and enjoyed (granted I thought they would also like it). I have a few shows I wouldn’t watch with my mom or grandparents but that’s just because they wouldn’t like it; they wouldn’t care at all if I did.

One of these shows is the Fate spin-off series Illya which is something I have as a result of this weird decision I made to own and watch EVERY Fate show. It’s no secret that I like loli stuff but even I have boundaries (I’m sure that is a surprise to all) so that is really the only show that might ever fall into this category for me.

Not the most exciting day of the challenge but I hope you enjoyed reading regardless. This is where I turn things over to you! Do you have a “guilty pleasure” show or are you like me and think that concept is a bit silly? Let me know all about it in the comments below. If you feel like supporting the site, please consider checking out my Ko-fi. Lastly, thanks for reading and I hope to see you back here tomorrow where I’ll be discussing what anime I want to see but haven’t yet for day 6.

  1. When I was younger I was more concerned about what people might think. These days I don’t care about what others may think of my anime viewing habits. I even link to my reviews on Facebook. Many moons ago I watched season one of Illya and liked it. For a comical spin-off I have to say that the action scenes have surprisingly good visuals.

    1. Same really. I’m just aware that some of Illya has some, let’s say, questionable moments that are outside of my norm. Again, don’t know for sure how I’ll feel about it since I haven’t watched it yet.

I will say that the visuals do look pretty good. I’ve seen some clips here and there.

  2. Only one choice today? :p

I’m like you in that I like what I like. But I still have guilty pleasures haha. Most of mine are usually involving over the top fanservice or ecchi shows, since I normally really don’t like those tropes. For example, Mangaka-san to Assistant-san is a show that I like, even though it has a lot of things I hate regarding fan service and treatment towards women.

    1. Yup XD Those top 3’s were anomalies in all this.

Ah, makes sense. I’m not super into those types of shows either. I thought really hard for this one and decided that Illya might be where a guilty pleasure would come from. Haven’t seen it though so maybe I’m totally wrong and would just like it any way. Beats me!
