Hello Everybody!

I know that today I had planned to have a Why I Love… article or discussion piece up but I’m going to do something a bit different. Instead, I’d like to take some time and let you all know what’s up in my life and what that means for this site. In a sense, this is still a discussion piece, just not in the traditional sense.

School

University has been crazy lately. I have a lot of work to do as the term is concluding. I’m working very hard on a project for my major related class that has the chance to completely shake up an actual market (I’m a marketing major). For this reason, writing here is sort of difficult. I’m not going to give up on it, but while I’m busy I’ll be less frequent.

That being said, once the term is up I plan to be back in full force! I’d like to tell you a bit about my project though since it’s pretty cool. I’m working on reinventing a product (unfortunately I can’t say what it is) that will hopefully be in stores to actually buy by spring 2016. Won’t that be cool?!? Once the project is more-or-less over I plan to write up a report detailing the experience and such on here and you can read about it in more detail then.

Since this project is going to actually become a reality, you can imagine that I have to work pretty hard on this with my group. This project is a competition and only the best idea will win and get to be the product we eventually bring to market. I aim to win and as a result, it has been taking up a good chunk of time.

Beyond this, I have the normal papers and other group work but it all kind of came at once. I’m just busy until the end of the month with that.

Work

I don’t get paid to write here, and I don’t even ask for donations. This is a just for fun activity that I do to share my opinion with folks. The writings here are usually pretty short since I don’t have tons of time (the not getting paid thing is a factor on that front) and are meant to be informative but consumable over a morning coffee or something like that at least. That being said, my real job is quite demanding at times.

I work for the university I attend as a data technician. My job is to create surveys, interpret data sets, and make recommendations for future studies, projects, program implementation, etc… I have off periods where I’m not very busy, but I’m on an “on” period right now. Couple that with school and I am ridiculously busy.

I enjoy my job though, I get to work form home and on my own schedule. A lot of people don’t get to do that. My busy period usually dies down with the term though, so again, things should be a lot calmer at the end of the month. On a side note, if you ever need any survey work done or anything like that hit me up. I love doing that sort of thing.

Personal Life

Naturally, I’ve got to have some time for myself. None of what I’m writing here is an excuse, and I have a blast writing for everybody as long as people still enjoy it or find it useful. With that being said, right now I don’t have a healthy balance of work and personal time. This site is something I take seriously, and while still for fun, fits more into my work category than personal time. Don’t take that the wrong way, I don’t dread writing here! I just want to put some effort into these articles and hence, they take some work.

What this means for us here, is that I just need to slow my publishing schedule on here until November is up. Ideally, I want to do a 12 days of Christmas type thing in December, so if all goes to plan I’ll more than make up for the slower release schedule for the remainder of the month. Fingers crossed on that one.

Closing Thoughts

Time management is an important skill to have and I need to recognize that I’m too busy to fulfill a regular release schedule on here at this time. Don’t worry though! I am NOT going any where any time soon, I just need to take things a little bit easier. I’ll probably publish a few more times this month, at least once a week, so you’ll have some stuff to look forward to at least. Additionally, my contributors might put out some stuff for me while I’m more busy too.
