Plans For The Week 11/23/15-11/29/15

large_happy-thanksgiving-titleHello Everybody!

Sorry this is a little late coming, had a busy weekend and an even busier day today. Don’t have an incredible amount to cover this week so let’s get right to it!

The Plan

It’s Thanksgiving this week, so I am not going to post anything outside of this for this week. The following week is going to be crazy busy for me so a heads up there, I’ll likely be fairly inactive until December 7th.

The Previous Week

Published Content:

I put up an anime review of Danganronpa which you can check out here.

Important Happenings:

WordPress changed how I make content now and it is pretty awful. I’m basically having to relearn how to do everything since almost nothing stayed the same. Sucks. Past that been enjoying my small break.

Of particular note, if you dig anime be sure to head over to Righstuf and check out their Holiday Sale. Some crazy discounts. If I have time I will try and point out some especially good deals once we hit December.

Closing Thoughts & Thanks

Dear WordPress,

Please make it so your site is easy to use again.

❤ -Jon Spencer

Seriously though, I strongly dislike this new format. A quick thanks to Grady P. Brown and Crime/Mystery Film & Writing Festival for subbing. Go check them out if you have time. Your support is appreciated greatly, and same goes to my previous viewers as well!

Until next week, enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Danganronpa Anime Review

Overview

This is anime review 9

When it comes to anime, there are several shows that attempt to have good mysteries as a main premise. However, it is usually a case that these shows fall more than a little flat, especially when the anime attempts to incorporate other genres. Today I take a look at the anime adaptation of Danganronpa. Note that I haven’t played the game, so this review won’t really talk about it much. Continue reading “Danganronpa Anime Review”

Plans For The Week 11/16/15-11/22/15

Hello everybody!

I hope that each one of you han excellent week. I was very busy this and that made producing content here more difficult. Don’t worry though I’m not going away. More details on that part of the weekly update.

The Plan

  • Monday:  nothing
  • Tuesday:  Probably nothing; anime if I get it done then. We’ll see.
  • Wednesday:  Either the anime review or a board game review.
  • Thursday:  Nothing
  • Friday:  Nothing unless I have extra time
  • Saturday:  Relaxing day for me

I know that really isn’t all the much but my contributor, Dana, should be getting a review out this week as well.

The Previous Week

Published Content:

Though I was pretty busy, I did my best to get a few things out this week. I wrote a review for Love Letterr and

Important Happenings:

All of my classes are in full swing right now, which is part of the reason I’m so busy. I am now almost done the big marketing project, which I can’t really talk about until the term is over. I also have a work project as well. I’m going to be one busy beaver.

Closing Thoughts & Thanks

I don’t really have much of a chance here. If you followed me on a social media site, thanks a bunch! I would like to particularly thank the geek couple and UnimeTV for following me here. Well, that’s if for me today.

An *IMPORTANT* Update 11/13/15

Hello Everybody!

I know that today I had planned to have a Why I Love… article or discussion piece up but I’m going to do something a bit different. Instead, I’d like to take some time and let you all know what’s up in my life and what that means for this site. In a sense, this is still a discussion piece, just not in the traditional sense.

School

University has been crazy lately. I have a lot of work to do as the term is concluding. I’m working very hard on a project for my major related class that has the chance to completely shake up an actual market (I’m a marketing major). For this reason, writing here is sort of difficult. I’m not going to give up on it, but while I’m busy I’ll be less frequent.

That being said, once the term is up I plan to be back in full force! I’d like to tell you a bit about my project though since it’s pretty cool. I’m working on reinventing a product (unfortunately I can’t say what it is) that will hopefully be in stores to actually buy by spring 2016. Won’t that be cool?!? Once the project is more-or-less over I plan to write up a report detailing the experience and such on here and you can read about it in more detail then.

Since this project is going to actually become a reality, you can imagine that I have to work pretty hard on this with my group. This project is a competition and only the best idea will win and get to be the product we eventually bring to market. I aim to win and as a result, it has been taking up a good chunk of time.

Beyond this, I have the normal papers and other group work but it all kind of came at once. I’m just busy until the end of the month with that.

Work

I don’t get paid to write here, and I don’t even ask for donations. This is a just for fun activity that I do to share my opinion with folks. The writings here are usually pretty short since I don’t have tons of time (the not getting paid thing is a factor on that front) and are meant to be informative but consumable over a morning coffee or something like that at least. That being said, my real job is quite demanding at times.

I work for the university I attend as a data technician. My job is to create surveys, interpret data sets, and make recommendations for future studies, projects, program implementation, etc… I have off periods where I’m not very busy, but I’m on an “on” period right now. Couple that with school and I am ridiculously busy.

I enjoy my job though, I get to work form home and on my own schedule. A lot of people don’t get to do that. My busy period usually dies down with the term though, so again, things should be a lot calmer at the end of the month. On a side note, if you ever need any survey work done or anything like that hit me up. I love doing that sort of thing.

Personal Life

Naturally, I’ve got to have some time for myself. None of what I’m writing here is an excuse, and I have a blast writing for everybody as long as people still enjoy it or find it useful. With that being said, right now I don’t have a healthy balance of work and personal time. This site is something I take seriously, and while still for fun, fits more into my work category than personal time. Don’t take that the wrong way, I don’t dread writing here! I just want to put some effort into these articles and hence, they take some work.

What this means for us here, is that I just need to slow my publishing schedule on here until November is up. Ideally, I want to do a 12 days of Christmas type thing in December, so if all goes to plan I’ll more than make up for the slower release schedule for the remainder of the month. Fingers crossed on that one.

Closing Thoughts

Time management is an important skill to have and I need to recognize that I’m too busy to fulfill a regular release schedule on here at this time. Don’t worry though! I am NOT going any where any time soon, I just need to take things a little bit easier. I’ll probably publish a few more times this month, at least once a week, so you’ll have some stuff to look forward to at least. Additionally, my contributors might put out some stuff for me while I’m more busy too.

Thanks everybody for your time and understanding on this matter. I hope everybody else is doing well and isn’t as busy as I am :p Have a great weekend as well!

Love Letter Review

Overview

This is board game review 5

Love Letter from AEG is a small card game for 2-4 players. The game has a million versions (I wish I was joking) that are all more-or-less the same in terms of gameplay. Personally, I prefer the original Japanese version with translation. However, there are versions for all tastes ranging from Adventure Time to The Hobbit. Continue reading “Love Letter Review”

Shigofumi: Letters From The Departed Review

Overview

This is anime review 8

What if the dead could send one final message? This is the question that Shigoumi presents, and I’ve got to say it’s pretty interesting. The idea of these letters from the departed got me into the show, leaving us with one major question:  was what I saw good or not? Continue reading “Shigofumi: Letters From The Departed Review”

Plans For The Week 11/9/15-11/15/15

Hello Everybody!

Sorry for not being very active last week. Things have been busy for me with school and work. I’m still kind of busy, but not nearly as busy as I was last week! Any way, it looks like I should be able to do a more normal schedule this week. On with the news! Continue reading “Plans For The Week 11/9/15-11/15/15”

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes Review

Overview

This is video game review 3

Time ticks by, “Which wire do I cut?” I ask my partner, who is safely in the other room. One false move and it’s game over. You could cut the tension with the wire cutters I seem to have forgotten (seriously, for a game about defusing bombs you can do a pretty great job with no tools). I get the word, “cut the 4th wire!” He yells. I can tell he is slightly unsure. I cut it, only seconds left on the timer… Just in time, that was close. Introducing Meeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hello Everybody!

Meeeeeeeeeeeee, is Dana Scarr, the newest member of Jon’s review crew! Similarly to Jon, I’ll primarily be reviewing anime, games, western animation, and whatever else tickles my fancy. I have a love of crafts of all kinds and I’d love to share whatever I’m up to with you all. I also love animals of all sorts, which may or may not come up in some of my reviews, and I am currently a student working towards a bachelors degree in Zoology. If anyone’s got any questions for me, leave it in a comment below or send it through Jon (for now), and if it’s not too invasive I’ll do my best to answer. In the meantime, I’ll hopefully be able to share some differing, interesting, and maybe thought provoking opinions on my favorite (or least favorite if the case arises) media and more!

Dana Scarr signing off!
